Honda CR-V review

In the crossover SUV section Honda CR-V stands strong. Indeed it is one of the best cars by Honda. A good line of its advocators are seen praising its dynamics, features, design and performance in the automobiles market.
Design and Trim levels

This compact crossover SUV called the CR-V has got five trim levels namely LX, SE, EX, EX-L and EX-L with navigation.

The base trim LX comes equipped with 17 inch steel wheels, power accessories, cruise control, keyless entry, air conditioner, driver seat height adjustment, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, 40/20/40 reclining and sliding rear seats, four speakers music system and retractable front tray table.

The SE trim level has got all the features of LX trim. The add on features in this trim are rear privacy glass, 17 inch alloy wheels and an upgraded six speakers music system.

The EX trim level sports a dual level cargo area, steering wheel mounted audio controls and a sunroof with all the other standard features.

The EX-L brings you some exciting features like heated mirrors, automatic headlights, 8 way power adjusting driver seat, dual zone automatic climate control, leather upholstery, fixed front centre console, heated front seats and a seven speaker music system with subwoofer and satellite radio.

The EX-L with navigation trim has got additional navigation system with Bluetooth, voice controls and a rear view camera.

The luggage space measures up to 35.7 cubic feet which is considered quite generous and roomy.

 

Engine and its performance

Honda CR-V comes equipped with a 2.4 litre four cylinder engine. It produces 180 horse power and 161 pound feet torque. It has got a five speed automatic transmission. An option for front wheel drive and all wheel drive is given for the customer to choose. This engine zooms from 0 to 60 mph in 10.1 seconds which is rather slow.

The fuel economy given by the front wheel drive engine according to EPA is 21 mpg in city and 28 mpg on highways. The all wheel drive engine gives a fuel economy of 21 mpg in city and 27 mpg on highways.

 

Safety

The safety features included in Honda CR-V are stability control, front side airbags, side curtain airbags, antilock disc brakes, parking sensors and a backup camera.

The IIHS gave this car a rating of “good” for side impact and frontal offset crash tests. It also earned five stars for side and frontal impact tests. However CR-V secured the rating of “marginal” in roof strength test.

 

Conclusion

Honda CR-V has got an attractive and functional cabin with easy to understand controls and good quality upholstery to its credit. With beautiful exterior design, enticing features and powerful on road performance, CR-V scores way above many crossover SUVs in the automobiles market.
